T31T – Kanton Island

NEWS UPDATE – T31T team now in Apia, Samoa.

September 19 – Team now on their way to Kanton Island. You can track their long journeyhere.  In addition, T31T now on Club Log.

August 22 — Polish operators 3Z9DX, SP3DOI and SP7VC (from REBEL DX GROUP) will visit Kanton Island in Central Kiribati late September 2016. They are going for 4-6 weeks trip to do radio activity and volunteer any help to the local community, including Radio Emergency Communication System. The residents don’t have any type of communication with the rest of the world at this moment, and in case of any disaster or health problems, they can only count on themselves.

The team would like to make aware this is not a $100,000 trip as it does not need to be! They are not begging for any donation up front as travelling around the Pacific is not that expensive, contrary to what many teams suggest. Their budget is ”packet-budget” and is enough to do activations from very rare places.

For future reference, if you think that people in other remote parts of the world can use their help and expertise then let them know.

The MS0UKI Team (EI5GM, EI6FR, EI9FBB, G0VJG, MM0LID & MM0NDX) are delighted to announce their upcoming adventure to Lunga island, the largest of the Treshnish Isles EU-108.

They are also pleased to announce that all necessary permission to overnight has been granted, so from September 3rd – 6th 2016, the team will remain on the island subject to weather / sea conditions. They will have four stations QRV on 40m through 6m.

Note: With the activation of EU-085 earlier this year, and according to Annex H part 2 of the 2016 IOTA Directory, the Treshnish Isles EU-108 is now the second most wanted island group in Europe behind Rockall EU-189.

• The Guarau island is located in Peruíbe city on the São Paulo state. will be 3 km from the mainland. the island is administered by the Forestry Foundation of São Paulo, core Jureia Itatins.
  The landing and or stay on the island is restricted because it is relevant environmental preservation area. Tourists can visit the island when accompanied by an environmental agent accredited by the São Paulo State Forestry Foundation.
  The island was never activated.
